Hi all - bad timing, with it being November already, I know! I've been lurking around seems like forever!

I am in need. I have two Saanen does (one grade, one American) and no buck - I lost my buck shortly before breeding season and am having a heck of a time finding a new one. I am in Southeast Iowa, and like everyone else, am somewhat short on funds. I am willing to go with nearly ANY dairy breed at this point - someone just hanging out needing to be used and sold to the locker, for instance?

I can't afford to keep two open does all winter and spring next year...feeding two somewhat useless mouths isn't in my budget.

If anyone is interested in BUYING them, that's fine (I have registration papers, etc) but would prefer to get a buck to breed them for production next summer.

Anyone local who wants to just do a breeding would be welcome, as well, but they aren't in currently in milk so I haven't been monitoring their heat cycles...I'd need to borrow thebuck for six weeks...

Thanks!

-Sarah

Sarah did you find somethig? Are you a member of ADGA? If so you could check your member book and see who is near you.

Wish I was close to you I have a nice Alpine buckling that wasn't even used this year.

Hi - YES and yes!

I found a buck to "rent". I had called a few times and the ones I was trying for got back to me and I now have a gorgeous buck to hang out with my girls this winter. *Whew*

Thanks so much! I feel so much better about keeping them now. Just can't afford to keep girls who won't be pulling their weight in the spring, as I'm sure many of you know!
