OK so I am not sure just how many will find this funny but this cracked me up. I had given all the adults their hay except the bucks and the kids (both are outside pens). I took the kids for their walk back behind the house and after putting them away I ran back down to the barn to get theirs and the bucks feed. When I entered the barn my yearling (well almost 2yr old) nubian/lamancha cross Rhapsody was just whooping and hollering and bellering and wouldn't touch her hay unlike her pen mates and sister. I was never sure if the buck had bred her or not as I couldn't ever catch her in heat.
I figured what the heck and grabbed the lead to take her up to the buck pen just in case (by this time it is dark, rainy, and wet). Thankfully this BIG girl is an angel on lead and doesn't pull or fuss at all even in the dark. As I got up to the boys sure enough she starts flirting and flagging (much to my buck's delight ) . I stayed in the pen with her to make sure she got bred at least twice for sure by the buck. I left to go get the boys their hay real quick and then took Rhaps back down to the barn with her girls. As soon as I put her back in her pen she went and started eating hay and didn't utter another peep.
It just cracked me up! . All my other girls are always such HUSSIES when it comes to being in heat and even after I take them away from their "boyfriend" they cry and pine away until they come out of heat and THEY are LaManchas! So for my dear sweet goofy Rhaps to come back and not even make a peep where as just 20 minutes before you thought she was dying was about the funniest thing I have seen. I guess she was happy with the job well done?
Like I said I am not sure if anyone but you guys would get this as funny if you even do. My other friends would look at me like I grew a third eye if I told them this.
